Professional Development Workshop Series: Freedom to Move

  • Center for All Abilities 31 Monroe Street New York, NY, 10002 United States (map)

Many professionals and caregivers feel anxious about allowing neurodiverse children to engage in physical exploration, fearing the risk of injury. Yet active play and physical freedom are essential parts of a child's development, supporting not only motor skills but also social, emotional, and cognitive growth.

This training, led in collaboration with Go! Sports USA, will equip professionals with practical techniques and safety strategies to foster physical exploration while maintaining a supportive, guided environment.
Participants will learn how to:

  • Balance safety and autonomy in physical activities

  • Encourage healthy risk-taking that builds confidence and resilience

  • Implement developmentally appropriate supports for diverse needs

  • Communicate effectively with families about the benefits of physical play

By promoting thoughtful, guided physical engagement, professionals can help neurodiverse children experience greater independence, joy, and self-confidence through movement.

We encourage you to share this opportunity with anyone who may be interested.
