Fort Bend Christian Academy Students Bring Art, Music, and Community to CAA

For the high school theater students of Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land, Texas, their annual "Eagle Week" mission trip is more than just a service opportunity—it’s a chance to live out their faith through acts of service, creativity, and connection. Rooted in the school’s commitment to servant leadership, this mission week allows students to embody the values of compassion, generosity, and love while making a meaningful impact on the community. From March 3-6, 2025 these multi-talented students dedicated their time and energy to transforming spaces, sharing their talents, and forging deep connections with the CAA community in unforgettable ways.

Throughout the week, the students rolled up their sleeves to paint, move and build furniture, and organize and decorate spaces, breathing life into CAA’s new office space at 58 Eldridge Street. As they worked, the rooms were filled with music—Gospel songs, Broadway classics, and joyful harmonies that reflected their love for theater and performance. Their dedication didn’t just enhance the physical space; it brought a renewed sense of energy and warmth to CAA, exemplifying how faith and service can go hand in hand.

In addition to helping CAA with our office move, the students visited the Mei Wah After-School Program, where we run a weekly art therapy residency program. While there, they led a vibrant arts workshop for the children. Divided into four stations—dance, storytelling, music-making, and crafts—the Fort Bend students encouraged participants to step outside their comfort zones and explore new forms of creative expression. At first, some younger students were hesitant, but as the activities unfolded, their excitement grew. By the end of the session, one child exclaimed, “This was the best day ever!” The Fort Bend students also found the experience deeply rewarding, calling it a highlight of their week. Through these moments of shared creativity, they saw their own personalities shine as they guided and encouraged the children.

Another unforgettable experience came when two members of CAA’s Outshine program joined the Fort Bend students for a session of music and movement. Outshine is an arts based social group that serves neurodiverse teens and young adults. At their session with Outshine, what started as a simple song quickly grew into a full-group experience of worship and dance. By the end of the session, every Fort Bend student was lined up alongside William and Jack, two Outshine participants, moving in sync and singing along with enthusiasm. Jack and William’s energy was infectious—Jack’s bold, expressive movements and William’s powerful voice created an atmosphere of joy and unity. This moment was a true reflection of the power of faith and the arts to bring people together, breaking barriers and celebrating shared experiences.

CAA was richly blessed by the partnership of the Fort Bend student group. Their time at CAA exemplified how faith, service, and the arts can bridge communities, creating opportunities for learning, joy, and transformation.

These students leave behind more than freshly painted walls and organized spaces—they leave behind inspiration, connection, and a reminder of how faith in action can uplift and unite us all.
